Verbatimus for schools and teachers
English irregular verbs, learned for real.
Do you need a licence?
The line is drawn by what you're doing, not by what sort of place you work in. A one-person tutoring practice needs a licence; a teacher revising their own English does not.
Free — no licence, no key, nothing to pay:
- you're learning English for yourself;
- you're a student, at any age, using it for your own studies;
- you're a teacher brushing up on your own English, on your own time.
Licensed — one seat per teacher:
- you use it with students you teach, even if you teach alone;
- you're a private tutor, freelance or otherwise;
- a school, college, or language academy uses it in class;
- a company uses it to train people.
One teacher counts as one seat. There is no minimum and nothing institutional about it — a tutor working from a kitchen table buys exactly one seat.
The licence
$10 / teacher / month
Choose how many teachers at checkout — billed monthly, cancel any time, no minimum. Every feature is included: no ads, no student accounts, no learner data collected.
Get a licenceAlready have a key? Enter it in the app under You → School licence. Lost it, or need to change teachers or cancel? Manage your licence.
How licensing works
It runs on trust, the way classic tools like WinRAR always have — there is no lock and no account. A device set up for school use gets a 40-day trial with everything working. After that, the app shows a calm reminder to enter a school key. Nothing is ever blocked; the app keeps working in full. The key simply confirms the licence is held and turns the reminder off.
It's called a "school key" because most licence holders are schools, but the word covers any teaching use — including yours, if you teach alone.
After you buy
Your key appears on screen the moment checkout finishes, and we email a copy to the address you paid with. Each teacher pastes it once, on their own device, under You → School licence — no logins, no student accounts. It renews itself while your subscription is active, so there is nothing else to do.
If you ever lose it, you can have it sent again from Manage your licence. You never need to email us to get back in.
No accounts, no learner data
Nothing a learner does ever leaves their device. There is one honest exception: to keep the licence current, the app occasionally sends the key itself back to us to renew it. The key holds only the licence details — the name on it, the seat count, the expiry, and a subscription reference — and never anything about your teachers or students. See our privacy policy.
A whole school, a district, or an invoice
The price is the same at any size — there are no volume tiers. But if your finance rules mean you need to pay by invoice or against a purchase order rather than by card, email ask@lowbatterystudios.net and we'll arrange it.
The fine print
Teaching and commercial use is covered by the licence terms, and what the app sends is in the privacy policy. Both are short and plain.
Use it in your school?
Send us the information and we'll get in touch. This is just to say hello — you don't need to do it to buy a licence.
